The company was originally established as a private entity under the name Kattanah Company in 1930 with a capital of 500,000 dinars as a joint-stock company. Upon the issuance of the nationalization decisions on July 14, 1964, and in accordance with Law No. 99 of 1964, the General Company for Vehicles was established with a capital of 600,000 dinars, becoming one of the companies under the General Establishment for Trade.
Following the issuance of Decision No. 702 on August 28, 1988, and Ministerial Order No. 1555 on September 6, 1988, paragraph 2 of which stipulated the cancellation of the General Company for Trading Machinery and Equipment, its tasks and responsibilities were transferred to our company, which was renamed the General Company for Trading Vehicles and Machinery.
